H is for...

Harley Davidson! My Dad was a Harley owner - and lover! It was his pride and joy. He was planning a big road trip to Sturgis to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Harley... but unfortunately he passed away before he could make the trip he was so excited about. Here are a few photo's of him on his Harley, and an article about him from his HOG newsletter.

Love the bike, and your dad looks so happy on it, you must have some fantastic memories to help you all.

I am not a good cook, but reading your blog I could get interested.

A big thank you for your comments on my "H" this week.

Hi many thanks for visiting
Sorry to hear your Dad missed his dream ride but if he is anything like me he made the most out of his riding while he could.
I keep promising myself a ride on a Harley but just know that I will be tempted to add one to my current collection of just one Honda (highly controlled by Mrs DeeJay!)

A great little film came out of New Zealand a couple of years ago. It was about a man who sounded very much like your father, so I'm sure you'd enjoy it if it was available in your video store. It was called 'The World's Fastest Indian'. It had Anthony Hopkins in it, but it wasn't a 'A' film. Still, you'd like it I'm sure.

Now we're talking. Right up my street. Blogging from the land Of the TT ROAD RACES this speaks to me. Smashing photo of your dad too. Great way to share and keep memories alive.

I see he also liked tattoos. How old was he?

I've only been on one once, and we got caught in a thunder storm. I got home in time to change my clothes to go to work at my part time job, a waitress, I was still in high school.

Well believe me, my clothes were so wet, thought I would never get my jeans off, which were tight before they got wet, my Mother was begining to think she would have to cut them off, and then since we didn't have home hair dryers/blowers back then, I had to pull my hair back into a pony tail and go to work with wet hair. The good old days. LOL I think not. And no, it wasn't Abe, it was a young Marine I went to school with that was home on leave. We were just friends.

Thank you everyone for your sweet comments about my Dad. He truly was an amazing man. Mrs. Lincoln asked how old he was - he was 73 when he passed away in 1993. His birthday is coming up later this month - he would have been 89 this year. I'll be doing a special posting about him on the 25th.

Happy rest of the week! Cindy
